From classic tuxedos to flashy suits, women’s dresses have been a hit on the red carpet this fashion season, sometimes drawing attention to scary face.
Singer Harry Styles arrived at the Grammy Awards in a flashy harlequin-breasted suit, while Oscar-nominated Barry Keoghan chose details in blue and red as his style for the Golden Globes and the British Academy of Film (BAFTA) Awards.
While traditional suits and tuxedos are still the red carpet, men’s clothing has shown more variety and better options – vibrant colors, shiny weaves or details, as the most popular fashion in it, the actor Timothee Chalamet often shows up in his unusual costumes.
“There’s a lot more optimism now than usual … certainly more than 20 or 30 years ago (if it ever comes to that) there’s a lot more pre-emption of things. guys will wear to events,” Charlie Teasdale, executive editor of the men’s magazine British Esquiretell Reuters. “Now it’s more of a guessing game.”
Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne has been winning style awards for his red carpet choices this awards season, which culminates with the Oscars on Sunday. Her look consisted of a full brown suit decorated with a large flower, a black jumpsuit, and high-waisted black pants matched with a white shirt with a large bow at the neck.
In some cases, the ties are untied or completely dropped – actor Andrew Garfield went more open-necked in a dark orange suit for the Globes, while Donald Glover opted for white silk pajamas underneath a black jacket for the same thing.
“A lot of the guys you’re seeing at the meetings, it’s a place where people are really looking at trends that might show up in the next year or two, or even longer,” Teasdale said. Carpet has become the most interesting thing especially in the last few years, because you never know what is going to happen and it is very affecting.”
Teasdale was distinguished between film and music ceremonies, such as the Grammys and the BRIT Awards, with the former such as the BAFTAs featuring classic suits, and the latter featuring looks terrible.
This season’s men’s highlights include glittery jewelry worn by the likes of Rege-Jean Page and Rami Malek, diamond sunglasses donned by singer Pharrell Williams at the Grammys as well as handbags. Asked what she thought of men’s fashion this awards season, Oscar nominee Michelle Yeoh told Reuters last month, “I love it.
