Is Shadab Khan risking Pakistan’s career by playing in PSL 8 with injury?

Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan has revealed that he is yet to fully recover from the finger injury he sustained while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.

Pakistan vice-captain Shadab Khan was not considered for selection against New Zealand in the three-match ODI series after breaking his finger.

“I haven’t recovered from my finger injury because I still feel swelling and pain,” Shadab said in an interview.

Pakistan’s interim selector at the time of New Zealand, Shahid Afridi, reacted to Shadab’s injury saying that young players should get a chance in foreign leagues but should not come to the cost of national duty or domestic cricket.

A Twitter user questioned Shadab playing for United in PSL 8 with an injury, while his international career on the cricket franchise was at risk.

However, the chief executive of Islamabad United, Rehan-ul-Haq, quickly came to Shadab’s defense and clarified their position on Shadab’s injury.

“Hello sir. Before jumping to conclusions, please understand that the physio & doctor are advising him to play as this is the only way to recover. Thank you,” Rehan tweeted on reply.
