Emma Mackey will not be returning to season five of the Netflix original series Sex Education. Deadline reports that Mackey, who plays Maeve Wiley on the show, is set to leave the British comedy after four seasons.
The main character was asked about his return to the series next season. Answering the question, the British-French star said Radio Times at the BAFTA awards, “Hand time? I just finished my fourth reading last week!” He added: “No, I don’t think I’ll be in season five. I’m saying goodbye to Maeve.”
Before filming the fourth season, the actor revealed that his character will not be very important in the upcoming season, as will go back. “It’s very normal! And it’s a bit of a stretch because we have a lot of people. So, there’s … I’m not in it like I used to be.”
He also expressed his happiness to return to the set. The BAFTA winner said, “But now we’re in the middle of filming, and I’m excited to be back. Yes, I want to know what will happen—because I don’t know either. I’m looking it up as we go along, so it’s going to be interesting!”
Many actors are leaving the series this season, including Tanya Reynolds, Patricia Alliso, Simone Ashley and Rakhee Thakrar. Adding to the list, first, Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the role of Eric Effiong, was revealed about the release as well.
Of the Doctor Who The actor shared a photo of his car door with his man Eric’s name written on Instagram, with the caption, “The last day. The last time. Bye bubs, thanks for all the lessons and all the energy.” Mackey and Gatwa are seen together in the Barbie movie.
