As the country’s recession-hit economy continues to fall, on Wednesday it dropped again. the government will avoid another oil bomb by increasing the price of petrol by Rs22.20 per liter starting today.
Farhan Saeed has taken to social media and criticized his fellow citizens for not raising a voice against the rising inflation. “Pakistaniyon, tum 500 rs liter bhi dalwa loge. Afsos! (Pakistani people will be fine even if petrol prices are raised to Rs500 per litre. sad state of affairs). Governments do not stand up for themselves, it should be worse,” he shared in a tweet.
The price of petrol rose by Rs35 per liter at the end of last month, due to the rupee’s devaluation against the dollar. The new increase in the price of petrol and diesel is also caused by the decrease in the value of the rupee to the dollar, according to a statement from the finance ministry.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the Government has also increased the price of kerosene oil to Rs12.90 per liter and diesel oil to LDO Rs9.68 per liter. After the hike, the price of petrol has gone up to Rs272 per liter compared to its earlier price of Rs249.80 per litre, registering an increase of Rs22.60 per litre.
