Indian soldier Javed Khan Amrohi has died

Bollywood veteran Javed Khan Amrohi, who enjoyed films like Andaz Apna Apna and Lagaan, died on Tuesday. He was 73 years old. According to Hindustan Times, the actor died of lung failure.

Filmmaker Ramesh Talwar confirmed the death of Javed i PTI and told the news agency that the actor, who worked in popular television in the past Nukkad, was suffering from a stomach ailment. Amrohi was bedridden for a year and was treated in Mumbai. “He died at the hospital around 1pm because his two lungs failed,” he added.

Amrohi started his career in cinema after graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). He then appeared in small but important roles in over 150 films and nearly as many TV shows.

The famous star essayed the role of barber Karim in the 1980s TV show Nukkad. In the comic Andaz Apna Apna, Amrohi played the role of Anand Akela – one of the agents of Raveena (Raveena Tandon) who finally gave up the search and decided to help Aamir Khan instead. At Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaanthe player played professional cricket and was one of the support staff of Shah Rukh Khan’s Indian Women’s Hockey team Chak De India.

Amrohi has also worked in popular Hindi films including Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Laadla, and Ishq. She was also seen in both Mahesh Bhatt’s episodes Sadak – the 1991 movie, and the 2020 sequel Sadak 2. He also worked in the popular 1988 TV series Mirza Ghalib.

He is survived by a son and a daughter.
