Shoaib Malik cited the example of Karachi Kings cricketer Shah Rukh Khan and Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic while stressing the importance of experience in any career.
Malik scored a 52-run knock off just 34 deliveries against Peshawar Zalmi on Tuesday, aided by four boundaries and two sixes.
In the post-match press conference, the reporter called Malik ‘old is gold’ after his performance against Zalmi, to which Malik replied, “It was done by Shahrukh Khan in a recent movie, he also looked ‘old is gold’.”
“We shouldn’t emphasize age too much. If Novak Djokovic can win a grand slam at the age of 36, then we should see whether a person can compete with a teenager or not. We also have to see if we don’t get it. A senior player is hidden in the field or he doesn’t disrupt the atmosphere of the dressing room,” he said.
“The rules should be the same for everyone. There shouldn’t be different rules for older players,” he added.

Imad Wasim and Malik anchored their run chase against Zalmi with a 131-run partnership for the fifth over. However, their efforts were in vain as Zalmi registered a close two-run win over Kings.
