Popular messaging app WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to listen to text messages.
The new function allows users to read the text of audio messages if they don’t want to hear them.
WABetaInfo recently observed the code in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone, which recognizes the content of the audio message and translates it into text.
However, there are some limitations because the image is still in early beta. Currently, translations are not available for unknown or foreign languages that have been set as disabled.
The text will be processed on the user’s device and will not be sent to WhatsApp or Apple servers, guaranteeing the privacy of users. Text editing is currently available on iPhones and it’s not clear when it will launch for Android phones.
Recently, WhatsApp introduced new features to the app such as display settings, audio settings, and visual communication on the platform, along with a tool to help users with their messages.
